The Carrboro Economic Development Department has released a policy for a new COVID-19 Mitigation Business Grant and invites the public and business community to review and provide comments on the policy.
Approved by the Town Council in June 2021, the grant program allows the department to issue up to $300,000 in business grants using funds the Town will receive from the American Rescue Plan Act.
The proposed policy would allow a business to receive up to $20,000 in order to mitigate negative economic impacts to the business from COVID-19. The grant funds could be used for a variety of things including marketing and advertising, back rent and utilities, COVID-19 loan repayment, training for new under- or un-skilled employees, and capital expenditures to adapt business to a post-COVID-19 environment.
