The event is a product of a coordinated
effort by the Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department
and the Carrboro Music Festival Planning Committee.
Carrboro's day long (Sunday, September
29), free festival featuring over 180 performing acts
at 25 indoor and outdoor venues. In the space of a few
hours within downtown Carrboro, a listener could hear
Bluegrass, Folk, Jazz, Country, Rock & Roll, Classical,
and World Music. This was Carrboro's effort to showcase
Triangle area performers and the varied musical styles
they represent. All of the performers donate their talents
to foster a strong sense of community and to reveal
their talents to a wider audience.
An estimate of 10,000 attended the 2013
This year we partnered with the North
Carolina Folklore Society on Saturday (September 28)
in a celebration of the organization's 100th Anniversary.
The Folklore society celebrated with
music, food, art, demonstrations, and much more at numerous
venues around Town. More information about their organization
can be found at N C Folklore Society. In collaboration
with the NC Folklore event, the Recreation and Parks
Department scheduled four diverse musical groups at
the Town Commons between 2:00 & 6:00 p.m.as a contribution
to the celebration.
The 17th Carrboro Music Festival will
be held last weekend in September, 2014.
