More information
The Orange County Long-Term Recovery Group is a partnership of nearly 150 community stakeholders, Orange County and the towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough. Members have been working since July on a disaster recovery and transformation plan for the county. The plan is intended to increase the community’s resilience ― its ability to withstand and recover from disruptions like natural disasters, accidents or attacks through individual and community preparedness.
An assessment of COVID-19’s impacts thus far in Orange County shows the pandemic appears to be exacerbating pre-pandemic issues in health, the economy, housing, and social services. Research conducted by the Long-Term Recovery Group shows communities of color within Orange County contracted the virus at higher rates and experienced greater financial hardship.
