The Town of Carrboro would like to provide an update on the 23rd Annual Carrboro Music Festival, scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 4th, 2020.
Due to the uncertainty resulting from COVID-19 and the challenges that it creates with regards to the advanced planning and logistics associated with large scale events, the format for this year’s Carrboro Music Festival will look different than it has in previous years.
In recent years, the event has annually hosted nearly 200 acts across over 25 unique stages. This has brought together hundreds of musicians, along with numerous volunteers, support staff, and community partners while drawing thousands of music lovers into Downtown Carrboro.
Due to the challenges that this presents to hold the event in a manner that is safe for the health of our community, this year’s event will primarily focus on performances that can be offered in a safe and socially distant format. Festival organizers are currently reviewing various options, including live broadcasting, live streaming, and pre-recorded performances, which may also offer opportunities for expanded audiences and access for some patrons who may not have otherwise been able to attend.
Please continue to check the event website at www.carrboromusicfestival.com for more information as it becomes available.
For local performers interested in applying for consideration to be included in this year’s event, applications are still being accepted through July 15th. Applications are available via the website. Please note that space is limited. Performers who are accepted will be notified as soon as possible.
The Town of Carrboro would like to thank everyone who participates in and supports this celebration of local music.
